Our work

Our work: Eritrea

Our purpose is to help African food processors grow. Here is a selection of our work: who supported it, what we did and what changed.

Dairy is a cornerstone of nutrition and livelihoods in Eritrea, but it is often unaffordable, and hygiene and food safety systems have not kept pace. Since 2021 we have supported Teagasc in implementing CSARIDE, the EU-funded dairy project in Eritrea, across 11 missions. We trained processors in affordable dairy products, introduced ration calculators and farm training, and worked with inspectors and the national laboratory on test methods and procedures. In June 2025 we published a facilitator manual on running small-scale milk collection centres as cooperative businesses.
