Our work

Our work: Burkina Faso

Our purpose is to help African food processors grow. Here is a selection of our work: who supported it, what we did and what changed.

Six of our projects are in Burkina Faso, and dried mango is at the centre of them. For CBI we coached eleven dried mango processors to reach European buyers. Together they earned EUR 1.1 million in additional EU and EFTA export revenue from 2021 to 2025, and 396 supported jobs were created since 2023. Mango is seasonal, so in Burkina DryMore we helped processors add fonio, ginger and hibiscus to keep their plants working beyond the season. Through SPVO (2025 to 2029) we work with dried mango companies on working conditions, looking for commercial solutions so that better conditions pay for themselves. We also coach horticulture businesses and compost producers in HortiPlus, train rice mills through the GIZ MOVE academy, and helped GIZ test business models for young people in compost and orchard maintenance.
