The Inclusion Engine helps enterprises and programmes identify where women and youth are excluded — and how to change it. Through behavioural insights, organisational diagnostics, practical tools, and tailored coaching, we support factories, cooperatives, and market actors to redesign roles, improve workplace practices, and create pathways for meaningful participation.
- The Problem: Gender equality is often treated as a “social add-on” or a charity box-ticking exercise. This fails to gain traction with commercially minded business owners.
- The Solution: We frame inclusion as a performance driver. The Inclusion Engine applies five practical pillars (from workplace culture to supply chain sourcing) to help enterprises turn equality into stronger teams.

The Solution: We don’t just train; we match. We identify specific service gaps around a processor and help young people launch B2B businesses to fill them (e.g., crate management, transport, solar drying).

The AGFIN Solutions Lab strengthens the financial backbone of agri-processing.
The Problem: Most agri-SMEs are stuck in the “missing middle”—too big for microfinance, but considered too risky for commercial banks. They lack the collateral and the financial data to secure the capital they need to grow.
Our Solution: The AgFin Solutions Lab does not just broker loans; it builds investability. We use commercial logic to assess and improve business models, ensuring they are “investor-ready.”
The Result: Capital flows to where it is needed, financial products fit for the sector- allowing processors to upgrade technology and buy more from farmers.
Food Safety Desk Helping processors build food-safety systems for local and export markets
The Problem: For many processors, food safety is a burden—a cost they pay just to survive. But without it, they are locked out of formal retail markets and export opportunities.
Our Solution: We transform food safety from a “compliance headache” into a competitive business asset. The “Desk” acts as a technical hub offering hands-on coaching to implement HACCP/ISO standards and technical advice on factory design.
The Result: Processors replace imports on local shelves and access high-value export markets.

The Problem: In commodity markets like rice, efficiency is everything. Poor recovery rates and weak procurement destroy margins.

Marketing Sense Brokerage & Export Readiness
The Problem: Breaking into demanding EU and US markets requires more than just a good product. Processors often lack the technical export skills, the international network, and the internal sales function to succeed.
Our Solution: A stepwise path to global markets. Paid for by the company or donors, we identify export readiness and develop a clear roadmap. We then represent the company in international markets, handling sales while simultaneously training their team to build an in-house marketing function.
The Result: A de-risked transition from local markets to international success, ensuring the company develops the skills to stay there.
Youth Compost
Business Builder
Supporting youth to launch viable compost enterprises that supply real market demand
The Compost Start-Up Toolkit equips young entrepreneurs with the technical and business skills to produce high-quality compost and operate a profitable enterprise. We provide practical business models, link youth to processors needing waste disposal, teach science-based composting techniques, and offer tools such as the Compost Recipe Calculator for developing and assessing quality recipes.
30 enterprises have been developed in Burkina Faso as a part of the GiZ’s Pro Emploi programme and is continuing under the Horti Plus Programme.
Outcome: Youth-led compost enterprises that are commercially viable, technically sound, and ready to serve agricultural markets.
