We can clearly say that this role is made for someone who loves learning random info, is interested in business, is creative, practical and is curious about Africa. Each year we train and coach business owners on behalf of our international clients who include GiZ, IFC World Bank, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Netherlands and many more. This is a truly international career as our current projects take us to Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Eritrea, Malawi, Nigeria, Madagascar and the list is growing.
WHAT IS THE JOB?
- Responsible for creating learning experiences (whether in-person, online or a blend) that engage adult participants in an active learning methodology with a focus on technical and skills development;
- Works with various stakeholders in writing and developing effective training materials and the supporting materials applicable to the intended training audience;
- Actively promotes and develops the consultants’ training skills as well as driving academic integrity;
- Assesses the effectiveness of training workshops in aligning with the teaching and learning vision of Economic Sense

- Learning design –course module outcomes, learning methods, trainer manual development etc
- Identification of subject matter experts
- Workshop design for stakeholder engagement
- Manual development – research, writing, co-ordinating peer reviews, infographic development etc.
- Training support material development – manuals, worksheets, presentations, quizzes etc
- In-house capability development – learning design, workshop design etc.
- Liaising with the train the trainer team to cascade key content
- Debriefing of trainings to assess the effectiveness of the training.
- Adapts and drives evidence-based decision-making planning.
- Where required leads efforts to shift from in person training to digital training – web or even USB based (strategies, platform options, experts required etc)
WHO ARE WE RECRUITING?
- Bachelors Degree (B.Ed) or Postgraduate Diploma/ Bachelors Honours Degree in Education (PGCE or B.Ed)
- Business courses would be advantageous eg Postgraduate diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Project management, Operations, Logistics etc.
- A minimum of 5 years proven experience in a similar teaching and learning/ training role.
- Practical experience in business course development for practitioners (face to face priority) is advantageous.
- Practical experience in manual, workshop development and facilitation.
- Working knowledge of educational theories and curriculum design.
- Experience in using technology or familiarity around a Learning Management System to enhance learning is advantageous.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Track record of developing various practical business orientated training courses – marketing, operations, finance, equipment maintenance, sourcing etc.
- Expertise in workshop facilitation, leading meetings
- Project management skills – timelines, budgets etc
- Ability to take initiative and to practically apply knowledge.
- Will be required to travel both locally and internationally.
